Oliver S. Lincoln, ~1821 or 1824 to 1899« Back to Previous Page

Name of person inquiring about: Oliver S. Lincoln Oliver was supposedly born in Sackets Harbor in 1821 or 1824, moved to Chicago and then to Waukegan Il after the death of his parents, Calvin and Maria (Hickok or Hickox) Lincoln. As Oliver would have been a minor at the time of Calvin and Maria's deaths (assumed @1835 and 1830, respectively), I am trying to find Calvin's will and/or guardianship records for Oliver and his (assumed) younger brother, Charles Volney Lincoln (born of Calvin and Maria in Sackets Harbor in 1826 per his death certificate). According to Oliver's obituary, he moved to Chicago "with an uncle", so I'm assuming that the uncle would have been his guardian, but then another write-up suggested he moved west "with his sister". He supposedly lived in Chicago for a number of years before moving to / settling in Waukegan, where he spent the rest of his life, becoming very involved in the Town. I am looking for birth records or a will from his parents or guardianship papers that will link him to his parents. All documents I have found to date (death cert, marriage cert, his will etc) do not identify his parents. Any help would be greatly appreciated.
