Hello, I am James Gould and am doing research on Ashbel Cook of Ellisburg, Jefferson County and I'm a decedent of Franklin Gould, Born: 13 Mar 1825 in Clayton, Jefferson, New York. I have inherited a muzzle loader that was made for Franklin and the barrel is stamped; "A. Cook". A. Cook is known as a gunsmith in the Jefferson County area. Is there any information about Ashbel that could help me document the provenance? Known child is John and I would like to add that Ashbel was also known for making Underhammer Pistols.
