Information on Charles Donaldson 1844 to 1917« Back to Previous Page

My great grandfather Charles Donaldson was born in Watertown in 1844. As a child his parents died and he was raised in Canada per his obituary. Per Civil War records obtained from the National Archives, he enlisted in the Army on August 8, 1862 and was mustered in Adams in the 10th Regiment New York Heavy Artillery. He was mustered out on June 23, 1865 in Petersburg, VA. He moved to Iowa at some point and married Catherine Clewell on November 9, 1875. He died on June 30, 1917 and is buried near Lamoni, Iowa. I am seeking information on his parents and any other family members as well as any information on his life prior to 1862 and after leaving the Army in 1865. Thank you!
